Visiting Jacksonville for a work trip and someone suggested I go here (I forgot to take pictures of my food). I ordered the fried chicken (white meat), collard greens, mac and cheese, a side of black eyed peas, and cornbread.
The chicken was really good, flavorful (wish it was just a bit warmer). Collard greens and black eyed peas were amazing! Mac and cheese was okay - wasn't my favorite of the 3 sides. The cornbread was perfect - fluffy, buttery, and not too sweet! I also ordered a sweet tea which was perfect as well.
The gentleman that helped with my meat option was friendly. The woman who served my mac and cheese seemed agitated; I tried to ask for the crisp topping part of the mac and cheese and she passed my plate along and walked away (it wasn't busy, there was only 1 person behind me). The gentleman who served my greens and black eyed peas was also very friendly and so was the cashier.
Overall experience was great. Should I ever return back to Jacksonville, I'll make sure to stop in again.
I dined at this restaurant on Saturday and found the food to be average. Opting for this place over fast food was a better choice, especially since the prices were comparable. However, if you're ordering shrimp, be aware that they are cooked to order, resulting in a bit of a wait. Just a heads up – the wait time can be a little on the longer side.
The food is amazing. The service is amazing. I’m from out of town but when I pass through Jax it is my absolute go to spot.
Listen, if you want good soul food this is your place.
Cons: the line can be really long, it's cafeteria style so it gets loud which can make it hard for the workers to hear when ordering.
Pros: The food taste like someone's grandmother is in the kitchen putting love in the food, super affordable
I usually order the same meal every week from the westside restaurant & the staff knows me as a regular. The food is always tastful, served hot with luv & customer service is always great. (Parmesan Salmon) a personal favorite of mine. They also very attentive to elderly / handicapped accommodations.
First time having this place , definitely a great choice ! Everything is so delicious! Highly recommend! Friendly staff ! Everything is great about this place !
I visited Jacksonville this past weekend and decided to try Soul Food Bistro which was recommended by a family member. It was delicious and the employees were absolutely pleasant and helpful. I will visit again and this will be my new spot for food while in Jacksonville. Hats off to the chiefs and the entire team of workers. The dinning area, and restroom were very clean which is plus for me. We had to wait for the Porkchops but guess what, it was worth the wait, hot and great to taste. The seasoning in all dishes were dead on point. We had the 8 Piece Family Dinner with Yellow Rice & Gravy Yams, Lima Beans and Cornbread. I had a side of the Potato Pie (Yummy Yummy). All for $43.00 which was a great price.
Good food and great service.I took my husband to eat at this location for his first time. We had to visit a sick relative in Jax today. We decided to have dinner in Jax before heading back to Tallahassee. We will be back.
Whenever Im in town this place is a must stop. Theres something magical about the taste of this food. Hands down the best soul food place ever. The batter they use for their chicken ans fish is to die for. All the sides are fire. If your thinking about this place its a no brainer. Many times Ive brought trays back to Atlanta and ate for a few days. You just cant find anything even close to this up there. Didnt capture pics of the food I was rushing. Next time.
The Soul Bistro in Jacksonville Fl was delicious. This southern restaurant serves homemade food. Kudos to the staff and their customer service. We look forward to coming back when in town. I highly recommend the greens, candid yams, fried chicken and desserts.
